Here are highlights in history for April 24, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1992 — Students at Lakeview Elementary School planted a tree as part of the observance of Arbor Day.
1982 — The Wizard’s Den, a video game and arcade center, was open for business in the building at the corner of South Broadway Avenue and West William Street once occupied by the Woolworth store.
1942 — The Albert La High School baseball team defeated the Alden High School team with a score of 6-0 in a game played at Hayek Field.
