3 injured in broadside collision on East Main Street

Three people were injured Thursday morning after a broadside collision on East Main Street at the highway’s intersection with Sorensen Road in eastern Albert Lea.
Diane M. Awe, 61, of Scarville, Iowa, John V. Awe, 56, of Scarville and an unidentified passenger were transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Their injuries were deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Reports indicate the crash took place at 11:08 a.m., when an eastbound 2010 Dodge Caravan and a northbound 1997 Acura collided at the intersection. The report did not say which driver may have been at fault.
The Caravan was reportedly driven by Brooke C. Lundberg, 28, of Hartland.
Lundberg and her three juvenile passengers were not injured. The passenger names were not included in the report.
Diane Awe was listed as the driver of the Acura. She, John Awe and an unidentified passenger were taken to the hospital.
The report states the occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.
The condition of the road was listed as dry at the time of the crash.
The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Albert Lea Police Department, the Albert Lea Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
