Kenneth Stensrud, 1934-2015

Kenneth H. Stensrud, 80, of Wells, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, with the Rev. Mary Iverson officiating. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Wells is in charge of arrangements. Kenneth Henry was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Albert Lea, the son of Henry and Emma (Jensen) Stensrud. Ken graduated from Freeborn High School, the class of 1952. He attended the University of Minnesota Ag School, where he played basketball. He graduated in 1954. He worked for the Milwaukee Road from 1954-1967. On Sept. 11, 1955, Ken was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Miller. To this union three children were born: Valerie, Greg and Rick. Ken was an accountant for Del Monte Company from 1967 to 1991. He worked for Helgeson Accounting from 1992 to 2006.
Ken was active in the Wells community as a Jaycee, assisting the committee with Cub Scouts, the Wells Historical Society and Meals on Wheels. He was a board member for Rosehill Cemetery and the Wells United Fund. Ken was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells and was also on the church council.
Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barb, of Wells; children Valerie (Gary) Besser of New Ulm, Greg Stensrud of Madison, Wisconsin, and Rick (Holly) Stensrud of Bloomington; grandchildren Matthew Besser of Sartell, Steven (RaeAnne) Besser of Montrose, Daniel (Adrienne) Besser of New Prague, John (Brittney) Besser of Shakopee, Heidi Stensrud of Bloomington, Adam (Jill) Stensrud of St. Peter and Brandon (Michelle) Stensrud of Mankato; great-grandchildren Sydney Stensrud, Hayden Stensrud, Erica Stensrud, Jackson Stensrud, Sophia Ishaug, Wesley Besser, Cody Stensrud and Harrison Besser; sister, Phyllis Stieler; brothers-in-law Berdell (Vernell) Miller, David (Carol) Miller; along with several nieces and nephews and their families.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law Fred and Doris Miller; sister, Marian (Melford) Westeng; and brother-in-law, Jack Stieler.
