What about babies killed by abortion?

This letter is in response to the Feb. 10 column by Jennifer Vogt-Erickson titled, “Liberalized immigration may ease retirement strain.”  I agree with Jennifer on the basic premise of her column, which described how falling birth rates at or below replacement levels have adverse consequences for the future of nations. This has proven to be especially true for industrialized nations.

Unfortunately, what was missing from the data that she provided was the fact that abortion has claimed the lives of nearly 58 million of our nation’s children since the Roe vs. Wade decision by the Supreme Court in 1973 made it legal. How tragic when you think of what these precious children could have added to our world had they been given the opportunity to live.  Now, we are beginning to see the dire consequences of it on a worldwide scale. Even now, with the help of U.S. tax dollars, organizations like Planned Parenthood are working feverishly around the world to make sure that abortion is legal and available everywhere, especially in the poorer nations where the bulk of our immigrants come from.
