HOLLANDALE — “It’s mine.”
That’s Dale Miller’s favorite thing about owning and running 3-in-1 Bar & Restaurant.
Miller has owned the bar and restaurant, along with the gas station next to it, with his wife, Shelli, for about five years. He decided to open his own restaurant after working in the industry for other people for about 20 years. Miller said he knew he could run his own place just as well, so he decided to branch out on his own. Hollandale went dry for about a year with everything closing up, he said, before 3-in-1 opened.
Miller said he cooks, bartends and does just about everything else at the business, at 101 Park Ave. W. in Hollandale. Other than the Millers, there are around 20 other full-time and part-time employees.
There are a number of different meal specials each week, according to Miller. Thursdays are taco night, with hard shell tacos for $1.25, soft shell tacos for $4.25, chicken fajitas for $4.25 and nachos for $5.50. Two-piece and four-piece chicken dinners, complete with potatoes and a salad, are on special Fridays, as are hamburger steak meals. Along with hamburger steak meals, an additional special of either prime rib, barbecue ribs, steak and shrimp or beer-battered fish and shrimp is rotated on Saturdays. Breakfast is served every day and is extremely popular on the weekends, Miller said. His motto is “Really good food, really reasonable.”
Miller said the bar hosts darts every Monday and pool leagues on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Every couple of months or so the bar hosts a karaoke night, and the restaurant also has a party room that can fit about 30 people that can be reserved.
The restaurant and bar is open from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday.
According to Miller, most of the customers are locals, with some from Albert Lea, Austin and the surrounding areas coming out on the weekends more.
“People take care of us here,” said Miller. “They really patronize well.”
