Funeral services for Marian Stoneback, 92, of Alden will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Sharon Nelson will officiate. Interment will be at Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Marian died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Marian Lucille Stoneback was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Lansing, the daughter of Oliver and Catherine (Rector) Quam. Marian grew up in Lansing and graduated from Austin High School. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Paul Robertson until 1942.
On June 7, 1942, Marian was united in marriage to Vance Stoneback at First Methodist Church in Austin. Marian was a member of Alden United Methodist Church, Gideon Auxiliary, Tuesday Study Club, Monday morning Bible study group and held offices in local district and conference UMW. She volunteered with the Children’s Theater and Senior Ride Services. Marian enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and entertaining. Most of all, Marian enjoyed time spent with her family.
Survivors include her children Judith (Robert) Rasmussen of Monticello, Steven (Mary) Stoneback of Alden, Susan (Keith) VanDeer of Cody, Wyoming, Marcia Kneeshaw of Minneapolis and Amy (Cory) Winch of Alden; grandchildren Lynne (Brian O’Connell) Rasmussen, Michael (Heather) Rasmussen, Mark Stoneback, Wes (Emily) Stoneback, Jason (Liza) Stoneback, Joshua (Eugenia)Stoneback, Jeramy Stoneback, Richard VanDeer, Traci Hodgins, Christopher, Jessica, Matthew and Benjamin (Ryann) Kneeshaw, and Makya and Nodin Winch; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Beulah Luthe, of Austin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vance; son, Jon; sister, Dorothy Sale; and in-laws Albert Luthe, Glen Sale and Elmer and Elma Reim.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
