Funeral services for Kim Carlsen, 57, of Lakeville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bridge Community Church South (formerly First Baptist Church). The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Kim died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Kim Dee Carlsen was born on Jan. 28, 1958, in Savannah, Georgia, the son of Dick and Elaine (Edwardson) Carlsen. He grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. After graduation Kim attended college in Winona. Kim worked in the meat business including Carlsen Company in Albert Lea with his father, who was very dear to him. On July 3, 1987, Kim was united in marriage to Tammie Volk at First Baptist Church in Albert Lea. While living in Albert Lea they raised their children. Kim and Tammie moved to Lakeville after their children were grown. They have lived there several years. Kim worked for Superb Meats in St. Paul, where he was part owner. While living in Albert Lea Kim was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to concerts, playing golf and was an avid Vikings fan. He was very much a nature lover and family man.
Survivors include his wife, Tammie; children Wendy Carlsen, Anne Carlsen, Chris (Renee) Baldwin and Dustin Baldwin; grandchildren Nicholas (Laura) Runden, Hailey Egeness, Emma Carlsen and Wesley Baldwin; sister, Wendy Nelson; a niece and two nephews; uncle, Dave Carlsen; and other family members, including Donna Jensen, Laurie Reeves, Vicki Root, Misty Volk, Michelle Lowe, Josh Volk, Kathy (Mike) Parry, mother-in-law and father-in-law Richard and Eileen Volk; and his cats Sophie and Gracie.
Kim was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Elaine Carlsen.
Kim will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
