KIESTER — People interested in seeing a movie at the Kee Civic Theatre may have the chance to do so for free this month, thanks to a movie buff from Kiester who died in October.
The late Nancy Sitzman told her family prior to her death that any memorial money given in her honor was to be donated to the theater, according to a news release.
Board members at the nonprofit Kee Theater have announced that April is Nancy Sitzman Memorial Month at the theater.
Beginning the first weekend in April and continuing throughout the month, the first 60 people to attend the movie at the Kee each weekend will be admitted free of charge. This includes both children and adults. That equates to 240 people enjoying a free movie in the month of April.
“We know the donation was her decision,” said theater board member Larry Hummer in the release. “Nancy was a great lover of movies. We think this special month is a great way to share Nancy’s generosity with the public.”
The Kee shows movies every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. The show begins at 7:30 p.m., and the doors to the theater open at 7 p.m.
Theater board members plan to install a permanent plaque in the theater to remember Sitzman and her generosity.
