A reported stabbing occured over the weekend, though with little publicity from the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office about the dangerous situation.
A stabbing allegedly took place at Harmony Park, located near Geneva Lake on 198th Street, at 3:56 a.m. Saturday. It resulted in Casey Alan Gefre, 23, no address listed, being arrested for second degree assault.
The male victim was listed as being stabbed in the upper left leg and taken to the Albert Lea Medical Center for treatment. The name of the victim was not listed on the report by the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office. A sheriff’s office spokesman said today that this incident is still under investigation.
No press release was issued to the public about the alleged use of a knife as a weapon, and only through a reporter looking at the log and asking questions did the incident come before the public. The Albert Lea Police Department often makes such incidents known right away for the sake of public safety.
