EDEN PRAIRIE — The Minnesota Vikings have taken Utah cornerback Brandon Burton in the fifth round of the NFL draft.

Burton was a two-year starter with the Utes. He intercepted two passes and had 51 tackles last season. He’ll add depth to a secondary that struggled with injuries last season.

The Vikings started Saturday by taking Iowa defensive tackle Christian Ballard in the fourth round.

The Vikings took quarterback Christian Ponder in the first round on Thursday and Notre Dame tight end Kyle Rudolph in the second round on Friday. They did not have a third-round pick because they traded it to New England for Randy Moss.

Vikings take OT Love in 6th round

The Minnesota Vikings selected Arkansas offensive tackle DeMarcus Love in the sixth round of the NFL draft.

Love was a first-team All-SEC pick last season for the Razorbacks. It was the first of four sixth-round picks for the Vikings after they traded their second fifth-rounder to Cleveland.
