Public invited to WIC open house

Freeborn County WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is celebrating the 40th anniversary of WIC! One of our country’s most important public health programs, WIC serves one in two infants born in the U.S. and has enriched the lives of millions of families over the years. For 40 years WIC has strengthened families through nutrition education, breastfeeding support, referrals to health care/community resources and vouchers for healthy foods to be purchased at local grocery stores. Through this programming, WIC improves birth outcomes, reduces infant mortality and prepares kids for learning. What a legacy that WIC supports thriving babies, school-ready kids and informed, confident parents!
Please join us as we celebrate this milestone! We are hosting an open house from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 28 at the WIC clinic. Our address is 411 S. Broadway Ave. in Albert Lea, and we are located just inside the main front door of the Freeborn County Government Center. You will be able to tour our site, learn more about the work WIC does, view displays about healthy nutrition and taste nutritious foods (and get the recipes) made with the healthy foods available through the WIC program. We look forward to seeing you.
