After completing his senior season as a thrower on the Albert Lea boys’ track and field team, Matt Nemec plans to continue his athletic career at the collegiate level, according to a press release.
Wayne State College track and field coach Marlon Brink announced Tuesday the first three members of the 2015 men’s track and field recruiting class: Nemec, Braden Taylor from Pierce, Nebraska, and Jordan Zautke of Battle Creek, Nebraska.
Nemec will join the Wildcats’ track and field program as a preferred walk-on. The 6-foot, 230-pound thrower started three years in football, two in track and field and one in wrestling at Albert Lea.
“Matt is a solid thrower with much potential to improve,” said Coach Brink. “He was injured during his junior year and did not compete while rehabbing an injury. Matt is a good student and all-around athlete and should develop in both the weight/hammer throws as well as the discus at the college level.”
Wayne State College is an NCAA Division II school located in Wayne, Nebraska, and competes in the 16-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
