Here are highlights in history for May 3, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1990 — The Albert Lea Art Center gallery would be featuring the art work of Sue Wright and her father Richard Hovland during May.

1980 — Band, orchestra and choral musicians from 10 Big Nine schools participated in the 48th annual all-day festival held in Albert Lea.

1940 — A Tribune news report said several car loads of Austin students threw eggs at several business places in that city, then came to Albert Lea to throw more eggs at the high school building.
