Alcohol detected in pickup’s driver
Three people were injured Saturday morning after a vehicle rolled over on Interstate 35 south of Albert Lea about two miles north of the Iowa border. Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Brent N. Shaikoski, 33, of Blue Earth, Kristopher C. Blackdeer, 31, of Mason City were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for their injuries, while Amy G. Clay, 27, of Blue Earth was transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. All of the injuries were deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The report states Shaikoski was the driver of a 2000 Dodge Durango headed northbound on I-35 shortly before 7 a.m. The Durango reportedly left the roadway to the right and rolled in the east ditch.
Alcohol was detected in Shaikoski’s system, and it is unknown if he was wearing his seat belt. His passengers, Blackdeer and Clay, were not wearing theirs.
The roadway was dry at the time of the crash.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
