Pre-K program would be expensive

It is hard to believe the Democrat governor this week is vetoing a bi-partisan bill because it did not include pre-K funding for every student in Minnesota that would have required all 4-year-olds to attend all-day school. Imagine the problems this would create for our school districts with building space, staffing, busing and funding. This would have been a very expensive government program, especially considering we already seem to have difficulty funding our current K-12 education program adequately. The Democrat’s own Early Learning Council has expressed reservations about the governor’s pre-K plan. The bill included $30 million for scholarships where children can be sent to the qualified program of their choice — public or private.
