The American Association of University Women will award two $1,000 scholarships to area students working toward a degree at an accredited college or university.

The scholarships are for female residents of the Freeborn County area who have completed at least one year of college working toward baccalaureate degrees as full-time students.

Written applications for the scholarship must be submitted to the AAUW scholarship committee on or before Aug. 14.

The application requires name and address, name and location of educational institutions attended, statement of educational plans and goals, information indicating financial need and use of scholarship and information about activities and accomplishments that demonstrate the applicant’s leadership and character.

A transcript of college courses, two letters of reference and a personal letter should be included.
