Area nonprofits receive Alliant Energy grants

Ten area nonprofit organizations are receiving community grants totaling $14,750 from the Alliant Energy Foundation in the first of its two 2015 giving cycles.
Among those earning grants from the Alliant Energy Foundation are the city of Mason City, $2,000 for the One on One mentoring program; Charles City Foster Grandparent program, $1,500 for mentors/tutors; Buena Vista University of Storm Lake, Iowa, $1,500 for the BV Buddies mentoring program; Parenting Resource Center of Austin, $2,000 for its Crisis Nursery; ARC of Freeborn County, Albert Lea, $1,000 for its Inclusive Mentoring Collaboration.
Also receiving grants are: Elma Early Childhood Center, Elma, Iowa; Kanawha Public Library, Kanawha, Iowa; Friends of the 457, Mason City; Camp High Hopes, Sioux City, Iowa; and Martin County Mentoring Network, Fairmont.
“This was one of our most competitive grant cycles ever,” said Julie Bauer, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “These nonprofit organizations do so much for our communities, and we are proud to partner with them to help the people their programs serve, especially in the areas of helping families, education and the environment.”
