The 43rd Freeborn County Bike-a-Thon Committee awarded prizes for the top 11 who brought in the most donations for the American Cancer Society on May 26 at Skyline Plaza. The prizes were donated by local businesses who continue to support the event.

There were 59 riders and 13 team riders, which consisted of First Baptists Church and service clubs, Kiwanis Day Breakers, Kiwanis Golden K2, Noon Lions and the Aktion Club. The teams raised $5,118, Aktion Club raised $4,448 and the riders raised $7,178.50 for a grand total of $16,744.50. There were 21 riders who completed the ride, with the first place rider coming in at 11:45 a.m. and the final rider rolling in at 4 p.m. The Bike-a-Thon committee thanks everyone who helped make it another safe and successful event.

Winners of prizes were Cayden Merten, 11, who raised $236 and received a $25 Martin’s gift certificate and Dairy Queen gift card. Richard Olson raised $250 and received a $25 Martin’s gift certificate. Bria Schrieber raised $285 and received a gift card from Sterling Garden Center. Norma Beard raised $294 and received a $25 Martin’s gift certificate. Donald Munden raised $400 and received a $25 Martin’s gift certificate. Jacob Hamberg raised $423 and received a $25 from Trade and Labor Credit Union. Leon Bure raised $506 and received $25 Chamber Bucks from Farmer’s State Bank. Jacob Moffett raised $650 and received a silver eagle coin from Citizens State Bank in Glenville. David Christenson raised $710 and received $25 Chamber Bucks from Farmers State Bank. Glen Juveland raised $762 and received a mint set from Security Bank. David Anderson was the top money raiser bringing in $3,547. He received $30 from the United Employees Credit Union and a Dairy Queen gift card.

The Bike-a-Thon committee members were Jodi Dreyling, Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag, LeAnn Juveland, Ken Dreyling, Cheryl Moran, Kent Erlandson and Dave Villareal.
