Civil War Round Table session meets Thursday
Published 12:48 pm Wednesday, June 3, 2015
The Civil War Round Table session features a presentation by the Rev. Matt Griggs, who has ancestors that were residents of Virginia during the antebellum years and through the Civil War. Griggs has insightful information and a more intimate history of that period to share, making that conflict all the more up close and personal for all in attendance. People can come to discover that the stereotypes of North and South will likely be faced with more sympathetic scrutiny, as the lines between what may be fancied as noble and ignoble invariably become more fuzzy and blurred, regardless of what region of this nation folks hailed from.
The session begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in the library of Southwest Middle School and will likely conclude shortly after 8 p.m. All the Civil War Round Table presentations and discussions are free to the public. People of all ages are welcome. A book with a particular Civil War topic will be raffled off as names are pulled from a hat to determine the winner.
