The first Progressive Agriculture Safety Day will be from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.
The event, which is for children in kindergarten through third grade, will focus on germ safety, grain safety, first aid, chemical safety, electrical safety, sun safety and disability awareness, among others.
Coordinator Katie Pestorious said while the event is a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day, all children, whether they live on a farm or not, can learn from the event’s topics. Only one out of the eight topics focuses primarily on agriculture, she said.
The event includes lunch, snacks, a T-shirt and a take-home bag that includes a first aid kit. The registration fee is $10, but scholarships are available to help with the cost.
