Barbara Ulman, 77, Apple Valley

Barbara Ann Ulman, 77, of Apple Valley, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2011, after a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. The Rev. John Holt will officiate.
Barbara was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Porter. She graduated from Canby High School and Mankato State University. She married Kenneth Ulman on June 11, 1955. Barbara taught elementary school in Jackson, Truman, Manchester and Glenville. Barbara and Ken spent most winters in Sun City, Ariz., after they retired. She liked to play golf, enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was a big Minnesota sports fan.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Anton and Martha Evjen; and her two brothers: Alvin and Harry. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, and five children: Kirk, Jay, Jill (Randy) Ryder, Jeff (Kristine), Jon (Sonnie).
She will be missed by her grandchildren, relatives and many good friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to National Parkinson Foundation Minnesota.
