Dean Slegh, 60, Hollandale

Funeral services for Dean C. Slegh of Hollandale, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Michael Bentley will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery.
Mr. Slegh died Friday, May 6, 2011, in Red Wing. He was 60 years of age.
Dean was born April 29, 1951, in Albert Lea, the son of Dick and Adeline (Behle) Slegh. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1969 and Junior College in St. Cloud, majoring in diesel mechanics. On July 3, 1971, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Vanderploeg at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. Dean had been employed for many years as a diesel mechanic at Ag Power in Hollandale until becoming disabled from MS. He then started Dean’s Reloads located in the back of S & V Automotive which is owned by his brother. He was assistant fire chief for the Hollandale Fire Department and in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings. For many years, Dean could be found riding around town on his three-wheeled cart with his long time companion, Charmin, at his side.
Dean is survived by his wife Marilyn of Hollandale, father Dick Slegh of Hollandale, children Chad (Janeen) Slegh and their children, Isaac, Lola and Ian of Waite Park, Cory (Keri) Slegh and their children, Zachary, Brett and Nicholas of Hollandale, Carey (Peggy) Slegh and their children, Mikayla and Caleb of Austin, Candace (TJ) Buchholz and their children, Season and Chloe of Marshall. Other survivors include Kent (Joyce) Slegh of Hollandale, Polly (Chris) Drenth of Hollandale, and many nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his mother, Adeline, and granddaughter, Bailey Dee.
