To kick off unbeatable summer sales, two Northwood women have teamed up to organize a multi-city garage sale Saturday on U.S. Highway 65.
It is 20 miles — stretching from Glenville to Manly. Other towns involved are Gordonsville, Northwood and Kensett.
“Come see what each town has to offer,” said one organizer Dori Kostka. “There are good bargains.”
The sales will begin mostly at 8 a.m. Some will be open for business until 6 or 7 p.m., while others will be closing for business at noon. There are about 85 sales registered. Each town will have maps or lists posted in varying places.
“We have all the sales registered, plus there will be smaller ones that didn’t register, so there will be a few,” Kotska said. “The Northwood fair will be going on, too. If fair-goers get sick of the fair, they can take a break and come to the sales.”
Despite just loving garage sales, Kotska said she and co-organizer Sheryl Northway were inspired with the idea from Iowa’s Highway 141 sale, which stretches from Grimes, Iowa, to Mapleton for 100 miles.
This role model sale will be on Aug. 7 and 8 for its 13th year.
Kotska encouraged people to come out to discover hidden and unique treasures at each sale. They can also get to know each town while meeting new people and scoring great deals.
