Kiester Days are happening again.

The festival will be Thursday through Sunday and will include food and activities. There will be plenty of events through the weekend to provide families with things to do.

“There’s a variety of things to do,” Kiester City Clerk Doris Troll said of the activities.

From 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, a homemade meal from the Farmers’ Coop Association will be served at the KT&CC, the old Kiester school. Also that night, the Kee Theatre will hold Kee Kapers — a talent show with skits and singing — at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door. Cinderella horse-drawn coach rides will be given during the night with donations proceeding Farming of Yesteryear.

Events will begin at 5 p.m. Friday with Cow Chip Bingo. Also at 5 until 7:30 p.m., the Lions Club will serve a feed at the Kiester Legion. At 8 p.m., a street dance hosted by Nowhere Fast will be at Forever Berma’s.

To kick-off Saturday, a biscuit and sausage gravy breakfast with a Bloody Mary bar will be in the Kiester Legion from 7 until 10 a.m. The two sporting tournaments — co-ed volleyball and horseshoeing — will begin at 9 a.m. in the city park. Also in the park, square dancing, venturing troop hair and face painting, kids games, a reptile and amphibian discovery zoo and vending will take place. A parade will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday afternoon will start with a classic car show from 1 to 3 p.m. with the local Walking Eagle band. A cribbage tournament will be at the Kiester Legion at 1 p.m. The local Penny Family will perform at the Kee Theatre at 2 p.m. Next is a bean bag tournament at 5 p.m. Families can eat at the Kiester Legion steak fry until 8 p.m. This busy night will end with the Kiester Legion street dance.

For the last day, there will be a celebration worship service at the Kee Theatre at 9 a.m. Kiester Days will end with a KT&CC pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. until noon.

All throughout Kiester Days except for Sunday, the Historical Society will be open for visitors.

“It’s an inexpensive getaway in the area,” Troll said.
