Here are highlights in history for May 10, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — An essay contest sponsored by the Tribune was based on letters from local school students honoring their favorite teacher choices.
1980 — Carla Reid Peterson, daughter of John and Cynthia Peterson of Albert Lea, was representing the state as Miss Minnesota at the Miss USA Pageant in Biloxi, Miss.
1950 — A master plan for Albert Lea said the city hall on North Broadway Avenue was “drab an unattractive” and too small for efficient usage.
