MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen has been named Western Conference Player of the Week.
The WNBA announced the honor Tuesday. It’s Whalen’s third Player of the Week award with the Lynx and seventh of her career.
Whalen started the week by scoring 16 points and making a game-high six assists in Minnesota’s June 25 win at Seattle. Whalen then led all scorers with 21 points in a June 27 win over Phoenix. It was Whalen’s 28th 20-plus-point effort as a Lynx player (52nd in her career) and the third time this year she’s been Minnesota’s top scorer.
The point guard shot 53.6 percent from the field during the week and made all six of her free-throw attempts in the two victories.
