LAKE MILLS — It’s not over until it’s over, and Lake Mills proved it.

The Lake Mills baseball team came back from a four-run deficit to defeat Northwood-Kensett 5-4 in extra innings Thursday.

Josh Peters pitched eight innings in the 10-inning game. The senior didn’t allow a single run and gave up just two hits while on the mound, and struck out 12.

“His pitching was lights out,” said Lake Mills coach Jason Blaser.

Grant Boehmer made the big hit of the evening with a sacrifice fly that scored Cael Boehmer and the winning run in the bottom of the 10th. Grant Boehmer also had three runs scored and hit a double in his 3-4 plate appearance.

Blaser said that Zach Throne was another dominant player on offense with four RBIs and a walk in his 2-3 appearance at the plate.

Peters and Grant Boehmer led their teammates in stolen bases with two apiece. Charlie Dugger had a stolen base, as well.

“To come back and have it close and tight, that’s a fun ballgame,” said Blaser. “Definitely a game that will help get us ready for district play.”

The victory was the Bulldogs’ last regular season appearance at home, and they’ll play against Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 6 p.m. Friday.

Blaser was not only happy with his team’s performance as a whole, but was also glad that the seniors on the team finished their regular season careers at home on a high note.

“I’m proud of the guys for competing the entire way,” he said.
