He was baptized and confirmed Lutheran and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Nebraska. Roy worked as a boiler operator for Tyson foods. He was a member of the labor union. Roy enjoyed fishing, going to tractor pulls, demolition derbies and watching NASCAR races. Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver.  He also enjoyed all sports and western movies. Roy was a very quiet man with a dry sense of humor, but did enjoy talking and visiting with his fellow residents at Senior Tower.
