MANKATO — Minnesota State and hockey coach Mike Hastings have reached agreement on a new contract.
The school made the announcement Monday. Terms were not disclosed. But director of athletics Kevin Buisman said the eight-year contract is worth $290,000 annually.
In Hastings’ first three seasons at Mankato, the Mavericks have racked up a record of 79-36-7. The Crookston native has led Minnesota State to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. The Mavericks won both the WCHA regular season and playoff titles in 2015.
Hastings also was named WCHA Coach of the Year for the second time and won the Spencer Penrose Award as the American Hockey Coaches Association’s national coach of the year.
