The Albert Lea Tigers girls’ golf team placed eighth of eight teams Wednesday in the Prior Lake Invitational at The Wilds Golf Club.
Megan Pulley led the Tigers with a 92 and McKenzie Nielsen, of New Prague, was medalist with a four-under par 68.
“We had really good compeition in the Cities today,” Tigers coach Shawn Riebe said. “It was just a really great experience for the girls to get to see a great golf course today with many of the state’s best players attending.”
Chelsey Battle finished second for the Tigers with a 106, followed by Paige Brick (108), Mady Dahl (116), Makenna Friehl (117) and Sydney Overgaard (121). The team’s No. 2 golfer, Morgan Field, did not play which hurt the team’s score, according to Riebe.
The Tigers shot 422, and Eden Prairie won the invite with a 314.
“I was proud of the way our girls handled themselves today,” Riebe said.
The Tigers golf again at 2:30 p.m. Friday against Austin and Rochester Century at the Austin Country Club.
