Severe weather passed through the area today with thunderstorm warnings that lasted until 8 a.m.

Faribault and Freeborn counties were affected by the storm that impaced Albert Lea, Alden, Hayward, Brush Creek, Conger and Walters.

The storm had wind gusts up to 60 mph that created tree damage near Ellendale, according to the National Weather Service. There may be damage to roofs, siding and trees from this storm.

The heavy rain from the storm could cause localized flooding, the National Weather Service said, especially the areas on U.S. Interstate 35 between mile markers 9 and 15 and U.S. Interstate 90 between mile markers 131 and 173.

The National Weather Service reminds drivers to not drive vehicles into areas where the water covers the roadway, as the water depth may be too great for cars to cross safely.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms impacted much of central and southern Minnesota and west central Wisconsin.

After the morning storms, clouds will scatter and allow the temperature to rise to nearly 95 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorm redevelopment is possible, primarily east of I-35.
