Baseball is very, very good to Albert Lea

As we go through summer, one thing I have noticed is the number of kids playing baseball. On Mondays and Wednesdays, Hawthorne Park is full of kids and parents. On any given day, there are baseball games at Snyder Field or there is a game at Hayek Field.
Why? Dedication by parents and kids. I have been fortunate to officiate some games this summer, so I get to see a lot of baseball. I also see what is coming down the road. Baseball is the one sport that you don’t have to be tall or you don’t have to be at a certain weight; you just have to play.
What is happening here in Albert Lea is commitment to the development of our baseball program. Fundamental, sound, fun baseball. It is a great thing to see. I would personally like to say “thank you” to all of you involved.
Whether you are a coach, umpire (like me), work consessions, field maintenance, tournament organizer or proud parent or grandparent, it takes all of you to make our baseball program a success.
See you on the diamond soon!
