Beware of ‘Man in a White Cloak’ in today’s times

My Point of View by Jerrold Dettle
Throughout the ages, man has sought a more perfect world for himself. The effort to create a heaven on earth has been wrought with sadness and suffering, and the quest to form a lasting utopia on the planet appears to be a challenge beyond the reach of human nature.
Currently these challenges for a fundamental change have intensified in our nation. The Constitution and culture are being transformed rapidly, and many are saying that civilization may be in peril. We owe our children and future generations at least a few minutes to heed this warning. Some type of a pending storm could be considered a certainty when the written records of past human actions are logically reviewed.
But, you wisely ask, how can we believe the accuracy of written history or the profound predictions for our future when much is recorded by self-serving political leaders? My answer is that the two major events of the past that are the most important to this discussion are also the most authentically recorded. They are the fall of Roman civilization and the rebellion of the Confederate states. They are being chosen because they most closely emulate our current country’s problems, and the comparisons are shocking.
A hasty review of the Roman events of 2,000 years ago describes the destructive impact of three internal changes.
1) After centuries of military strength, security forces were weakened
2) The Twelve Tables (original laws) were being ignored, while taxation grew and government promises and debts could not be delivered.
3) Hordes of unassimilated groups were able to enter the 1,100-mile northern border and overwhelm the advanced educational and legal structure.
A “Man in the White Cloak” at that time,” Leo the Great,” at first seemed to welcome the events and reassure the citizens, who fled the capitol when destruction, rape and pillage overcame the country.
The second historical event is the American Civil War. Here one can study the same major causes for national decline.
1) The Northern Army led by weak and indecisive men was encouragement to rebellion and failed to prevent the early Confederate successes.
2) The Congressional leadership before and during the early stages of conflict failed to address political issues effectively. Corruption, slavery, treachery and quality court appointments were generally neglected.
3) The South, having been economically decimated by Sherman’s Army, was forced again to suffer the reconstruction with mob rule and northern opportunists. The response was creation of great evil, another “man in a white cloak” (KKK).
These historically proven causes of civilization and freedom decline are now becoming our destiny. As manifested again by leaders appearing in this nation, who are opportunists cloaked under pure white apparel. This is a cover that is purposely woven to create an appearance of deep concerns for the well-being of humanity. These bearers are sometimes selfishly motivated, mostly when they strongly support the above listed axioms of destruction. It is easy to review current events that confirm the presence of the characteristics of national destruction. Here again are three major causes of the decline of freedom as described in the present time.
1) An extreme reduction in national security forces.
2) A predominance of government leaders corrupted by a lifetime of greed, power and media adulation that is resulting in a failure to protect the sanctity of long developed policies. Good policy virtues and traditions like low debt, the Bill of Rights, private property, limited governmental bureaucracies, protection from IRS abuse, freedom of religion and no political targeting by regulation and taxation.
3) There is an uncontrolled influx of humanity across 1,100 miles of border. This event serves those who are selfishly seeking to satisfy their desires for paying low wages, gaining more political supporters and filling their church pews. Many institutions in close proximity to the border, and providing services to all people, are now close to collapsing.
The current political ideology that seems to be sweeping across the country and driven by many elitists, was originated over 150 years ago by a man who came in a white cloak professing to be a savior of the enslaved, or the “common man.” This prolific writer and utopian created many political followers of various types who have mislead us with false programs. So, especially beware of the modern political leaders that seem to have no shame when making false claims, for Marx left them with this now famous advice: “The end justifies the means.”
