ST. CLOUD — Stearns County sheriff’s officials plan to drain nearly 5 million gallons of water from a quarry as they search for a missing St. Cloud man.
Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Bruce Bechtold said the family of Phillip Miller has told investigators the 30-year-old man has battled depression for many years and may have taken his own life. He has been missing since Thursday.
According to a press release, Bechtold said divers have been searching the quarry, but its depth and debris in the water have made it difficult. So the county will work with Coldspring, a granite company, to pump water out of the 100-foot-deep quarry and onto lower land in the park.
Co-workers at Gold Cross ambulance where Miller worked as a paramedic help search Quarry Park & Nature Reserve over the weekend.
