Cause of Tuesday evening fire is unknown

More details were released in connection with a fire that took place late Tuesday night at 123 Lake Ave. in Albert Lea.

Upon arriving, the Albert Lea Fire Department found fire coming from the north side of the first floor of the abandoned structure.

No one was found in or around the structure at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Firefighters entered the structure and extinguished the fire. According to the Albert Lea Fire Department, the fire was contained to a single room on the first floor. A couple of other rooms sustained smoke damage.

Damage was estimated at $35,000. Siding to a house just north of the structure was damaged.

An fire investigation has reportedly been done and the cause of the fire was undetermined  as of Wednesday evening.

The structure wasn’t torn down. The Albert Lea Police Department and the Gold Cross Ambulance assisted. The incident was reported at 11:31 p.m. Tuesday.
