Funeral services for LuVern Purdy, 94, of Alden will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate. Interment will be in Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

LuVern died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

LuVern Purdy was born April 12, 1921, in rural Alden, the son of Frank and Zelpha (Decker) Purdy.

On Sept. 28, 1946, LuVern was united in marriage to Olive Gordon in Albert Lea. LuVern was a farmer all of his life and enjoyed mechanical work, building things and restoring old tractors. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his sons Albert (Carol) Purdy  and Frank (Ann) Purdy; grandchildren Krista (Noel) Ahnemann, Kelly (Paul) Kleven, Dale Purdy, Ben (Amy) Purdy and Gloria (Jason) Heidemann; great-grandchildren Becca and Mikinley Ahnemann, Caleb, Spencer and Elianna Kleven, Kane and Landen Purdy and Jager, Gavin and Grace Heidemann; sister-in-law, Bev Gordon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

LuVern was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olive; brother, Roy (Helen) Purdy; sister, Betty (Lloyd) Petersen; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the charity of the donor’s choice.
