MANKATO — A bench featuring two steel beams salvaged from the World Trade Center wreckage in New York has been dedicated in downtown Mankato.
The sculpture was dedicated Friday on the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The sculpture includes a stone bench made of Kasota stone, native to the Mankato area, with the beams on each end.
Executive Director Noelle Lawton of the Twin Rivers Council for the Arts said visitors are encouraged to sit on the stone bench.
Lawton said the artist intended the sculpture to be “a place of dialogue and reflection on world peace.”
