Men’s injuries deemed not life-threatening

Two Albert Lea residents were injured in a crash Sunday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and Interstate 35 in Albert Lea.

The crash reportedly occurred after a 2003 Honda Civic, driven by David A. Brackey, 55, collided with a 2005 Chevy Equinox, driven by Eric V. Swan, 46.

Brackey was heading south on Highway 65 and attempted to make a left turn when the vehicles collided. The Equinox was traveling north on Highway 65, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The State Patrol listed the type of crash as a broadside collision. It  reportedly occurred at 5:15 p.m.

Brackey and Swan were transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. The injuries were deemed not life-threatening.

Alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash, and both people were reportedly wearing seatbelts.

The Albert Lea Police Department and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
