WINONA — Four of 56 cattle seized from a Utica-area farm have had to be euthanized, but the others are being treated by a veterinarian and improving.
Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude gave an update on the cattle on Monday. He said three of the animals, including some calves, were euthanized over the weekend, bringing the total to four.
Authorities went to the farm with representatives of the Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley, last Wednesday after receiving a report of animal neglect.
A man was questioned but no criminal charges have been filed. Ganrude says the case will be turned over to prosecutors after the investigation is finished.
