Domino’s new building at 910 S. Broadway looks great. Not only is it nice to see the building in use again, but it is also adding an updated look to South Broadway. With the new road also going in, we hope the appearance of that corridor into the community will only continue to look better. We look forward to this thriving business being a part of South Broadway.
To drug arrests at Harmony Park.
Though we recognize there were not as many drug arrests at the Shangri-La music festival at Harmony Park as in years past, we were disappointed nonetheless to see even a handful of arrests at the venue. Not to mention there were 13 other drug violations involving marijuana that resulted in warnings.
We know the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and Harmony Park owners are working to curb these types of arrests, and we hope those efforts continue.
To two instances of drunken driving this week that resulted in crashes with other cars.
It was disheartening to hear of two instances in the last week of drunken drivers who crashed into cars in Albert Lea.
The first instance, from Tuesday night, involved an Austin woman who crashed her car into two
other vehicles and a garage and ultimately flipped
her car on Garfield Avenue. The woman was reportedly traveling north on Garfield Avenue at a high rate of speed.
Police arrested the alleged driver, Savannah Hartzog, for first-degree driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the hospital with injuries.
The second instance, from early Friday morning, involved a man who reportedly crashed his car into a minivan and a tree on Euclid Avenue.
The driver, Jorge Vidal Martinez Reyes, reportedly fled the scene at 523 Euclid Ave. but was arrested near Kwik Trip.
These drivers are lucky they did not hit a car that had someone in it. Be responsible. Don’t drink and drive.
To Albert Lea Community Theatre.
Albert Lea Community Theatre this weekend celebrated its 50th anniversary with two nights of events, looking back over the years of the organization. We applaud all of those in the community who have supported this organization over the years, and we look forward to seeing what more will come in the future. Having a healthy theater group contributes to having a healthy community.
