Rebels edge Panthers

In an area battle, the United South Central volleyball team edged NRHEG 3-2 Tuesday at New Richland to avenge a 2-0 loss on Sept. 19 at the Mankato West Tournament.
Game scores were 17-25, 25-20, 25-23, 19-25 and 17-15.
“It was a fun, competitive (match),” said USC coach Amy Anderson. “The girls played with a never-give-up attitude and were able to come out on top.”
Lauren Allis led the Rebels (4-8, 1-3 Gopher) with 16 kills and three blocks. Shianne Robertson added 11 kills, and Kendall Stenzel had a team-high 20 assists.
Abby Wacholz posted a match-high 17 kills for NRHEG (7-7, 2-3 Gopher). Marnie Wagner had 23 digs.
Next, USC and NRHEG will both play at 7:15 p.m. Thursday. The Rebels will play at Bethlehem Academy (11-5, 2-0 Gopher) and NRHEG will host Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (17-3, 3-1 Gopher).
