Editorial: Graceland vandalism is disappointing

For the second time in a little more than two weeks, the Albert Lea Police Department this weekend received a report of gravemarkers tipped over at Graceland Cemetery.
The first report came the fourth weekend in September, and the most recent came Saturday. In September, 10 stones had been tipped over, and on Saturday, there was a report of five more.
In all, police estimated the cost to reset the stones at about $1,200, and no arrests have yet been made
Imagine if that the gravestone for your family or friends. How would you feel?
We were disappointed to read these reports to police, and we hope the community will be vigilant in reporting any suspicious behavior at the cemetery.
It is disrespectful for those who have gone before us and to the cemetery staff and the families who take care of the cemetery.
If anybody has any information on the damage, contact the Police Department at 377-5665.
