Memorial services for Robert W. Hintz will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Niethammer will officiate. Interment will be at a later date at Mansfield Cemetery. Robert Hintz, 92, of Albert Lea, a retired operator of Land O’ Lakes cafeteria died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea. Robert donated his body to the Mayo Foundation for Medical Research.
Robert was born in rural Faribault County on Nov. 16, 1922, to Ervin and Sarah Hintz. He attended country school No. 118, known as Hintz School. He worked on various farms and in 1939 moved to Kiester with his family and worked in the family business, the Kiester Hotel and Bar. In 1959 he attended the Rehabilitation Center for the Blind in Minneapolis. In 1965 Robert moved to Albert Lea from Kiester and operated the Land O’ Lakes cafeteria for 20 years. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Robert enjoyed fishing and listening to the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Survivors include his nieces; nephews; cousins; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Ivan) Hintz of Stewartville; and companion, Delores Glassel, of Albert Lea.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Evan, Elton and Ivan; sister, Ardis Peterson; and nephews Richard and Douglas Peterson.
