The Albert Lea High School band department will present its first concert of the year at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium, and will feature the Tiger band, symphonic band and concert band. Tickets are available at the door, and are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children preschool and under are free. There is also a $35 family pass available for purchase. The family pass is good for all band, choir and orchestra concerts for the rest of the school year.
The Tiger band, which is made up of eighth- and ninth-grade students, will perform three works, including “Fortis” by Gary Gazlay. The symphonic band will perform three works including a very thematic piece titled “Snakes!” by Thomas Duffy. The concert band, made up of mostly juniors and seniors, will perform four pieces. They have a seasonal piece titled “Band-O-Ween” by Patrick Roszell, as well as works by Sean O’Loughlin and Ralph Ford. They will also perform the well-known “Air for Band” by Frank Erickson.
