FARGO, N.D. — Officials with a regional Planned Parenthood chapter said a planned visit to Fargo by the group’s national president should be good for money and morale.

Cecile Richards was scheduled to speak Thursday at an annual fundraiser and visit with staff at a clinic in neighboring Moorhead.

Jen Aulwes, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, said the event raises money for advocacy and education.

Aulwes said staff members and volunteers were eager to hear from Richards, whose visit came one week after a deadly shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Aulwes would not talk about security measures for Richards’ visit, but said it’s not uncommon to have protection in place for Planned Parenthood events.
