Positive words can lift up the community

About a month ago, I came across a blog by a woman in Albert Lea.
I had seen her blog shared on the Facebook pages of several mutual friends, so I decided to check it out.
The blog, at russellsadventures.com, is about the Russells, a family of six. The mother of the family, Robin, usually writes the blog.
On her blog you can find posts about life with her children, but what has stuck out to me even more are her blogs about life in Albert Lea and how positive they have been. She has written about downtown Albert Lea a couple of times and how she loves this community that she lives in.
This past week, she wrote about the downtown Holiday Bazaar and the fun her children had. She said the Christmas season was one of the things she looked forward to as a little girl growing up in Albert Lea, and now that she has her own family they are continuing in some of the same traditions she experienced.
It’s clear she loves our community.
Her blog of positivity about our community is beginning to be shared more and more on Facebook, and it has stuck out to me how often I have recently seen it shared.
It was no surprise to see Russell and her husband, Mark, attend the Idea Splash last month at Wedgewood Cove where a room full of positive and optimistic people met to share their ideas for projects to lift up the community.
It goes to show the power one person’s positive statements and actions can have on our community, and the power all of these people together can bring to Albert Lea.
Russell is an example of someone we would like to feature in our upcoming Progress edition that comes out at the end of February. We are featuring people in the community who are proud to live here and who are accomplishing great things. Our theme is Community Passion.
We are working on our first of several sections this week, and then will continue the remaining sections in the weeks to come.
We are still looking for a few more story ideas.
If you know someone who is a force for good in the community and who would make an excellent story, please contact me by phone at 379-3433 or by email at sarah.stultz@albertleatribune.com.
