Memorial services for Joan T. Christensen of Albert Lea will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Russell Sepaniak will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Joan passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Thorne Crest Senior LivingCommunity in Albert Lea. She was 81.

Joan was born Teresa Joan Goodnow on June 26, 1934, to Thomas and Mable (St. Martin) Goodnow in Emmons.

She worked as a hairdresser in earlier days. She was united in marriage to Donald “Donnie” Christensen on April 12, 1952, at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea.

Joan enjoyed going out for coffee with a group of lady friends and loved to shop. During her stay at Thorne Crest, Joan liked visiting with other residents and staff. She kept up with politics and the latest news while chatting and playing dominos with her very close friends and neighbors Larry and Dee Ille whom she called family.

She so missed her Donnie.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald Christensen.

She will be missed by her friends, neighbors and staff at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community.
