WASECA — A Waseca teenager accused of planning a school attack will stay in a Minnesota jail for now.

John LaDue, now 19, was supposed to go to a secure Georgia facility for autism spectrum patients. But Georgia refused to accept supervision of LaDue.

As part of a revised agreement, a judge on Wednesday ordered LaDue to stay in Minnesota for evaluation and treatment. LaDue will remain in the Waseca County Jail until a bed opens at a state facility where he can be evaluated.

In October, LaDue was sentenced to up to 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to possessing an explosive device.

LaDue was 17 when he was arrested in April 2014 after police found him in a storage unit with bomb-making materials.
