The Bulldogs continued a busy week, traveling to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura to wrestle three duals on Thursday.
West Bend-Mallard was the first opponent, and Lake Mills cruised to a 66-10 win over the Wolverines, according to a press release. In the meet, the team picked up a whopping eight pins.
“It was nice to see the boys come out right away and go after the pins,” said Lake Mills coach Alex Brandenburg. “I think it was the most pins we have had in a dual this season.”
The next two duals of the night were against Top of Iowa Conference West opponents Garner-Hayfield-Ventura and North Union.
The Cardinals and Bulldogs entertained the crowd with many pins by both teams, but Lake Mills ultimately took control late and won 54-28.
“Against (the Cardinals), there were a few surprise wins on both sides,” Brandenburg said. “The exciting thing about wrestling is you’re never out of a match because of the pin element.”
The night closed out with Lake Mills topping the North Union program — which is in its second season and is thin on numbers — 84-0.
Bulldogs who finished their nights 3-0 included Caiden Jones, Kyle Beery, Cael Boehmer, Zach Johnson, Maverick Schmitt, Drae Love, Slade Sifuentes and Cole Bergo.
