According to the National Weather Service, snow was expected to be widespread by 9 a.m.

Winds could reach 25 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph. Wind and snow are expected to reduce visibilities to less than one quarter of a mile, creating whiteout conditions.

Total snow accumulation of 6 to 12 inches are expected. The highest snow amounts will be along the Interstate 90 corridor.

The Weather Service warns travel will be very difficult to impossible, including during the evening commute. People are advised not to travel. If they do have to travel, they should take a winter survival kit with them.

If you get stranded stay with your vehicle, the agency advised.
